What we do with what you send us
Updated 18 Aug 2026
We are a café, not a data business. You write to us, we answer you, and that is the end of it. Here is the whole of it in plain English.
Who we are
The Bald Barista, 68 Aungier Street, Dublin 2, D02 XE86, Ireland. We are the data controller for this website.
What we collect, and only when you hand it over
There is no analytics on this site today, no advertising pixel and no profiling. The only personal data we hold is what you type into one of our two forms.
- Say hello
- On our contact page: your name, your email address and your message.
- Function enquiry
- On our functions page: your name, your company if you give one, your email address, your phone number if you give one, the date and number of people, what you are after, and any dietary notes you add.
- Both forms
- The country your request came from, which our host tells us. Not your address, not your exact location — the country.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
To answer you, to price your order and to organise it. That is the only use. Under the GDPR our basis is Article 6(1)(b), steps taken at your request before a contract, and Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us.
If you tell us about an allergy
That can be health data under Article 9, so we treat it as such. We use it for one thing: making sure the food we hand you is safe to eat. Please don't send us more medical detail than that needs.
Where it goes
Your message is stored in a database run by Cloudflare and emailed to us through Resend, both acting as our processors. Nobody else sees it. We do not sell it, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not send it anywhere beyond those two services.
How long we keep it
- Messages
- Up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Function enquiries
- Up to 24 months — they often turn into repeat bookings, and the paperwork sits behind them.
- Anything invoiced
- As long as Irish tax law tells us to.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or object to us using it. Write to hello@thebaldbarista.ie and we will deal with it within a month.
If we get it wrong
You can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 — dataprotection.ie.
Photographs
There are photographs of customers on this site. Every one of them was taken with the permission of the people in it. If you are in one and you would rather not be, email us and it comes down that day.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data.
